Recreational cannabis is legal in Germany since April 2024, up to 25g in public and three plants grown at home, supplied through non-profit cultivation clubs rather than shops. Medical cannabis is well established, prescribable by any doctor and dispensed in pharmacies. Food supplements sit under separate rules: Germany sets no THC percentage for food and assesses each product against the acute reference dose of 1 microgram per kilogram of body weight per day.

Baden-Wuerttemberg's state laboratories report on 72 CBD and cannabinoid-extract products sampled in 2023-24: all 72 objected to as unauthorised novel food, and 46 additionally classed as injurious to health. Online shops are named as the main sales channel.
